About Kinako
Most afternoons, Kinako is on the windowsill of an old apartment in Sangenjaya, watching the alley cats and the little two-car Setagaya Line trains go by. She's three, beige, with amber eyes and a red collar with a gold bell, and she lives with Itsuki, a designer at a small studio in Shibuya.
Her days follow his week. When he's at the studio, the apartment is hers. On Thursday deadline nights he leaves the late-night radio on for her, and she listens alone. On Sundays she sits on his lap for the video call home to Kanazawa, where his mother calls her Kina-chan. She loves the warm laptop, bonito flakes and the oden he won't share, and she hates the vacuum cleaner and the carrier.
